Richard’s expression darkened as he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest defensively. “You don’t scare me, Gabriel,” he sneered. “You’re broken. You’re nothing but a shell of the man you used to be.”
Gabriel’s eyes flashed, but his voice remained eerily calm. “You thought I wouldn’t fight for my company. You thought I was too broken to do anything about it. Well, here’s a little surprise for you.”
Nora stepped forward then, her hands still shaking but her resolve hardening with every passing second. She reached into her bag, pulling out the file she had grabbed earlier from the desk in the café. Gabriel’s eyes flicked to her, then to the file she was holding in her hand.
“Richard,” she said, her voice cutting through the tension like a knife, “you didn’t just steal Gabriel’s company. You tried to kill him.” She dropped the bombshell with brutal clarity. “You cut his brakes.”
The silence in the room was deafening. Executives looked at each other, unsure whether to speak, but none dared. Richard’s face drained of color as he recoiled, his lips tightening into a thin line.
“Excuse me?” Gabriel’s voice, though soft, carried the weight of a thousand storms. His eyes were now fixed on his uncle, who visibly struggled to maintain his composure.
Nora’s words hit like a tidal wave. “You paid someone to tamper with Gabriel’s car brakes,” she said, her voice growing steadier. “And now you’ve been trying to get him out of the company, thinking he was too weak to fight back.”
Richard’s hands clenched into fists as he stood up from his seat. “You have no proof,” he spat, his voice trembling with anger.
Gabriel didn’t flinch. He simply looked at his uncle, his jaw set in a hard line. “Actually,” he said, “I do.”
The door to the boardroom opened with a soft whoosh, and the last of Gabriel’s patience snapped. He wasn’t just the broken man in a wheelchair anymore. He wasn’t going to be some victim. His life had been stolen from him, but this company—his company—was still his to take back.
With a cold smile curling at the corners of his lips, Gabriel locked eyes with Richard and the rest of the room. “This meeting is over. Richard, you’re fired.”
